2016: The Year of Productivity

With a new year, comes a new and improved attitude. This is the year for productivity; to make a better me by doing what I love and all the challenges that come with it. This year's resolution is to improve my skills in all that I do, whether it is involving people or keeping me contained to myself.

When it comes to both my lifestyle and travel blog, I intend to post at least once a week in order to build them up to blogs of my high standard. I hope to maintain them so that they are appealing, interesting, and able to share a part of my life. My lifestyle blog will include fashion, crafts, hair, food, and fitness posts. My travel blog will include my photography of places I visit, places or things encouraged to see, almost anything dealing with me visiting somewhere new or somewhere I love and writing about the interesting features.

This year, I hope will turn out to be the year to really start my life. This is the year I turn 21, making me a legal adult. I've put off things for far too long, therefore making me crave to enjoy my life to the fullest. I hope to gain as many followers as possible to share my life adventures and maybe inspire others to do the things they've always wanted but couldn't push themselves to do. I want to be an inspiration to others which will in turn inspire me to continue to live out my dreams and finally feel free.

The Weekend of New York Fashion Week

I finally get to post about my experience at New York Fashion Week this past weekend! It was amazing. Just being in the atmosphere of fashion in one of the fashion capitals, NY! It was a great experience; the city, hotel, people, clothes, models, designers, hair and makeup artists, and even the weather (which was extremely cold!) I got to dress up and show off my personal style and be around other very stylish people. I just love being around people who have great taste in fashion and love to show it off.

I am in this club called Styleline at my school, Philadelphia University, which is our school's fashion publication club. The group focuses on creating a campus publication that features different blogs on topics pertaining to fashion and anything interesting about around campus or in the city of Philadelphia. Being in this club allowed me to participate in this lovely event, NYFW, and it was phenomenal! We worked as volunteers during the shows Friday thru Sunday. There were dressers, ushers/security, social media press, goodie bag fillers, production assistants, and general helpers wherever they were needed. I personally was the social media press, taking pictures and posting on Instagram. There were about eight of us that worked in social media, so they had us do live feed by taking pictures and posting throughout the day as the events were going on. If you were posting for twitter, you would have been posting your thoughts and what was actually going on constantly throughout the day. The goal was to have at least 3,000 posts for the entire weekend. We definitely exceeded that goal by a little over 700 posts.

I met so many people networking through that weekend. I met a wide range of people with many different personalities. I met a few bloggers, designers, photographers, and other students. Also I gained a ton of new followers on Instagram from this event because of the pictures I was taking, which is also great because I could possibly have a connection with those people later on as well.

The overall experience was just great. No matter how many times I say that, I still can't express how much I enjoyed myself. This is the type of stuff I want to continue to do as I develop and follow the path into my future career. I want to continue to network and build bridges with many different people so I can always learn something new and gain opportunities from all over the fashion industry and even outside of it.

The Beginning...

Today marks the first day of my blogging journey! I've always wanted to make a blog but I just never thought I would keep up with it. That's something you should never do: limit yourself of what you think you will or will not do. If there is something you wish to do or have an interest in, go for it and see what happens. Never restrict yourself based on what you THINK might happen as a result.

My previous roommate, Tori (fashiontrendsmore.com), whom has had her blog for five years now, really inspired me to make my own blog. She pointed out to me that I have what it takes to make an interesting blog for those around the world to see. I love fashion, I take pictures of my outfits every day, I enjoy photography so I'm always capturing fun and interesting moments, I love shopping, I crochet and knit and have my own Etsy shop that I'm slowly building upon, and I love writing. So you may be asking, Why haven't you made a blog before now? My answer short and simple: I was just too lazy to start. Now that I am beginning my journey, I hope to really continue and post at least once a week until I am comfortable posting daily.

Throughout this blog, you will see a lot of daily outfit posts, fashion industry posts, photography, my creations and crafts, and other interesting things I encounter throughout my life. Hints, "Eclectic", a word I came across while talking to one of my friends when making my Etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/EclecticShowroom, which means deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. With that, I realized that I am a very creative person with a diverse range of interests and putting it all together could only be described as an eclectic background.

Please enjoy as you come along the ride of my calm, yet exciting and interesting life journey through college as a Fashion Merchandising major with a minor in Photography and further on. I promise to give my all to this blog and journal all my experiences, good and bad, that I may encounter throughout my life.
